Workers United Scholarship

2021 Scholarship Fund Application  

Submissions are due no later than July 31, 2021

PURPOSE

 

This fund was established to provide partial scholarships to members of Workers United Canada Council as well as their children and grandchildren. Our goal is to support members’ families, as representatives of the diverse cultural communities that make up the Workers United Canada Council, in accessing high quality post-secondary education.


ELIGIBILITY

 

Any student who will be attending his/her/their first year of a recognized post-secondary institution, and is a member, or the child or grandchild of a Workers United Canada Council member in good standing, is eligible to apply for consideration. A Workers United member shall be limited to one scholarship. Each successful applicant will be awarded a one-time $1,500.00 scholarship.

Each successful applicant will be awarded a one-time $1,500.00 scholarship.

 

CRITERIA

 

The Council’s Education Committee will review all Applications. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Council’s Education Committee, which will consider the following criteria:

    Offer of acceptance to a post-secondary institution

    Essay submission

    Involvement in community activities, including: multicultural, religious, athletic and any other organizations

    Paid or volunteer work experience

    Life experience

    Equity considerations

INSTRUCTIONS

 

  1. Please complete all three (3) sections of the application. If more space is required, please attach a separate sheet. Any missing information will result in disqualification of the application. Once applications are submitted, applicants will not be contacted unless successful. Successful applicants will be asked to supply a recent picture and short bio for use in Workers United publications.

  2. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION is July 31, 2021
